Latest Updates from Our Project:

July 2020 Update: Refunds are 80% complete!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jun 26, 2020 at 12:43:31 PM

Happy July, God Hunters! Do you know what's up with the fireworks? I thought we still had a week and a half to go...

Anyway, right now we're in the final layout stages. There are no updates so far, but at the same time nothing has gone wrong.  I feel like we're close, but I'd rather not give a date and then prove myself wrong yet again.

As you may have read in the topic, we've issued 80% of the requested refunds! We're going to issue a few more tomorrow, and it looks like we really will be able to issue all refunds before the book is out!

We hope to have a really concrete update next month, and can't wait to share the finished game with you! Not much longer now!

June 2020 Update: Layout Status / Release Update
almost 4 years ago – Sun, May 24, 2020 at 12:43:01 AM

Happy Memorial Day, God Hunters! And if you're not American, Happy Americans Being Weird About The Troops Day, God Hunters!

Still no release date, I'm sad to say. We're dealing with the issues in the layout sample's manuscript that slipped past our editors, and all of us are working around the clock to get this thing ready for prime time. The required changes are more extensive than expected, but we're rushing to get it done on time and simultaneously meet your expectations.

Unfortunately, we have yet to receive the higher-resolution artwork from Arclight to fix the grainy look on the art that I demonstrated last time, meaning we're probably looking at an August release rather than July.

In better news, refunds have resumed! We sent out another wave this week and there are more coming very soon!

Be safe, everyone!

May 2020 Update: Preview pages!
about 4 years ago – Mon, Apr 27, 2020 at 08:49:46 PM

Let's get right to it this time, God Hunters. Here are some pages from the first layout sample of Kamigakari!

We cooked this up about a week ago and have already identified a few problems that need changing. As you can see, some of the black-and-white art is pretty gnarly, but we're already in touch with Arclight and on top of it. The best part? None of the problems we've identified will throw us off-schedule! They can all be fixed using the time we set aside for this.

Not a lot else to talk about. The day when this will finally be released is fast approaching! I hope you're as excited as I am.

April 2020 Update: Stay Inside!
about 4 years ago – Fri, Mar 27, 2020 at 03:14:18 AM

Hope you're all having a safe quarantine, God Hunters.

Here's a small piece of good news: It doesn't appear that the COVID-19 pandemic is going to have a major effect on Kamigakari's development. We're all trying to stay safe, and layout is proceeding on schedule! Since DriveThruRPG and Backerkit are digital distribution entities, the digital version of Kamigakari: God Hunters will still be available this summer.

There have been no updates regarding DTRPG's book printing capabilities and how they might be affected, but I'm not comfortable committing to a same-day-as-digital release for print-on-demand. The traditional print books and wallscrolls are the most likely to experience problems, though the hesitance is on my part - Releasing a product through multiple interlocking infrastructures and shipping it across the country doesn't seem responsible.

We might not have made a 2020 traditional-print release anyway, so this isn't a huge impact, but we'll re-assess as the situation develops over the spring. Until next time, please stay inside, and do your best to keep healthy!

What Happened With The Refunds
about 4 years ago – Tue, Feb 25, 2020 at 11:21:41 PM

Heyhey, God Hunters.

I wanted to explain real quickly what happened that stalled the refund process, in the interests of that whole "transparency" thing. This'll be very short, but it seemed like something everyone should know, not something buried in the comments section of the last update.

While connecting Serpent Sea Games' Stripe account to the bank account Alan and I were using to issue refunds, Stripe noticed that overnight, the company had apparently moved to the other side of the country and that business was now being handled by some other guy whose name had never come up before.

Needless to say, they suspected that fraud was happening and locked everything down. It took some doing to prove that everything was fine, but now we've accomplished that, and refunds will begin again shortly.

I apologize for sidetracking things with my staggering incompetence once again, but I'm sure that I'll have made up for it in no time.
